Our Breadth-Oriented Approach

At Particular, we work collaboratively across the entire company - quite literally.

We do a lot of this work through Task Forces that last four, eight, or sometimes twelve weeks. Each Task Force tackles a specific initiative—anything from researching a new feature, to writing documentation, supporting our customers, as well as topics in HR or Finance. Before wrapping up, we run a retrospective to capture our learnings, helping the next group working in that area.

Breadth vs Depth

Many companies celebrate deep specialists who know every last detail of their area. Specialization does have its benefits. But here at Particular, we focus on breadth—the ability to see how everything connects so you can spot opportunities, prevent silos, and keep the knowledge flowing across the organization. That’s why we rotate people in and out of Task Forces and Squads. You might start by analyzing customer needs in a new feature and then observe how our marketing and operations teams work to bring that feature to market. Over time, you’ll gain a holistic perspective—and our customers, partners, and peers benefit from that bigger picture.

Variety, Yes—But Also True Collaboration

You're never really on your own here. As you go from one Task Force to the next, you’ll be side-by-side (virtually!) with people in engineering, sales, operations, or whichever skill set is required. We intentionally mix up team compositions so that even if you were the “go-to authority” on a given topic last month, someone new might pick it up next month—and bring fresh ideas with them.

This system may sound a bit unusual if you’ve always been the authority on a given topic. At Particular, we avoid creating silos by ensuring that knowledge continuously moves around. As a result, you’ll never be the only person who can fix that one critical bug—because a colleague (or three) has worked alongside you in that area. It’s powerful for your growth, the company’s agility, and—last but not least—your peace of mind, after all, we want you to be able to take leave and recharge!

Seeing the Bigger Picture

We genuinely believe you’ll grow better by seeing and working across all the parts of the company rather than staying in a single area.

And yes, we still value deep skills:

  • Our codebase doesn’t write itself (yet , cough AI cough cough😉)!
  • Our platform doesn’t magically sell itself (though our sales and public speakers do a pretty convincing job 😎)

But we’ve found that a strong sense of how the whole machine runs makes for better, more creative employees and collaborators.

Is Breadth Right for You?

We won’t pretend this is the perfect fit for everyone. If you thrive on learning one topic in utmost detail and you prefer to stick with it for years, our rotational style might feel like a big shift. But if you enjoy going wide, seeing new angles, and wearing multiple hats, you’ll find things incredibly rewarding here in Particular.

Ultimately, we choose breadth first because it’s how we keep our company adaptable, our people engaged, and our ideas fresh. If that sparks your curiosity and you can’t wait to explore multiple facets of a business—all while honing your talents and collaboration skills—then Particular might be the place for you.
